Zalmai Nishat

Panjshir in the Mirror of Civilization

(Part 31)

I was born in the village of Baba Ali, in Second District of Panjshir, on 15 of Aqrab 1353 (06.11.1975). In 1360 our family moved to Kabul and in the same year I started the primary school.

I was graduated in 1992 from High School in Kabul. In 1995, I went on to study medicine in University of Kabul, faculty of medicine. I got a scholarship from Ministry of Higher Education to study in Turkey. For one year, I studied Turkish Language in a city close to the border of Syria: Iskenderun.

In 1997, I went on to study International Relation in the Faculty of Economic and Social Science of Istanbul University.

My education remained halfway through due to economic hardship in Turkey. In 2003 I resumed my Higher Education in School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) of the University of London, studying Politics. I completed my BA (Bachelor of Art) recently.

Currently, I am undertaking a master’s course at the University of Essex, Department of Government in Colchester. I am studying political philosophy of post-structuralism, deconstruction psychoanalysis, and post-Marxism.

Upon finishing my master’s course I am planning to strait my PhD.

I am interested in political philosophy, specifically political philosophy of liberalism, communitarianism, post-structuralism, deconstruction, and post-Marxism. Also, I am interested in politics of Middle East (esp. Turkey), Politics of South Asia, Turkish literature, the compatibility of Islam and democracy, and state and society in Afghanistan.
